Heraldry.

The Great Packington estate has been owned by the Fisher family and the Finch family and this page will detail their coats of arms alongside a gallery of paintings, photographs and other images.

Fisher.

Argent, a chevron vair between three demi-lions rampant gules.

The Fisher Baronetcy was created by King James I of England for Robert Fisher of Packington Hall, on 7th December 1622. This is recorded in Complete Baronetage by George Edward Cokayne:

​

'FISHER:

cr[eated], 7 Dec. 1622; ex[tinct] 1739.

1622. "Robert Fisher, of Packington, co[unty] Warwick, Kn[igh]t,"

S[on] and h[eir] of Sir Clement Fisher, of the same, by Mary, da[ughter] of Francis Repington, of Amington, in that county, was b. 29 Nov. and bap. 2 Dec. 1579.

matrio. at Oxford (Ball. Coll.), 14 Jan. 1596/7, aged 18; was Knighted at Whitehall, 26 June 1609; sue. his father, 1619, and was cr[eated]. a Bar[one]t, as above, 7 Dec. 1622; Sheriff of Warwickshire, 1627-28 ; was 6ned, as a Royalist, £3,006, afterwards reduced to £2,006. He m. Elizabeth, da[ughter] of Sir Anthony Tteinqham, of Tyringham, Bucks, by Eleanor, da[ughter] of Sir Robert Throckmorton. He d. 29 March 1647, and was bur. at Packington. Admou. 12 April 1647, to Elizabeth, the relict.’

Finch.

Coat of Arms Earls of Aylesfor.png

Argent, a chevron between three griffins passant sable.

Heneage Finch, 2nd Earl of Aylesford and the second son of the Earl of Nottingham, married Mary Fisher, daughter and sole heiress of Sir Clement Fisher, 3rd Baronet, in 1712. When the 3rd Barnet died without male heirs in 1729 the Packington estate passed to Mary and her husband.
